MID HOUSE OF DIAMOND NAMED OUTSTANDING EXPORTER TO JAPAN IN  2017

MID House of Diamonds has been selected as the Outstanding Israeli Exporter to Japan for 2017 in the “diamonds” category, by the Israel-Japan Friendship Society and Chamber of Commerce. The decision was made in cooperation with the Israeli Foreign Ministry and the Israel Export Institute.

The award will be officially made at a special gala event in Tel Aviv on December 12, in the presence of the Japanese Ambassador to Israel, Mr. Koji Tomita, and Israeli government and business leaders.

“This is a great honor, recognizing the work and commitment of our staff at MID over the past several years, as well as warm ties and dedicated relationship that we have built up in with our clients in Japan,” said Dotan Meirov, a principal at MID House of Diamonds. “We are proud to be a recipient of the award and will do all that we can to ensure that the foundation that we have established in the country will continue to expand.”

Established in 1956, the Israel-Japan Friendship Society and Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit organization aimed at promoting cultural and commercial connections between Israel and Japan. It operates in collaboration with many other government and commercial bodies, among them the Embassy of Japan in Israel, the Embassy of Israel in Japan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economy, the Israel Export Institute, and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

Japan, which is the world’s third largest market for polished diamonds, grew in value U.S. dollar terms by 8.1 percent to $6 billion in 2016, up from $5 billion in 2015. To some degree this was the result of Japanese yen’s appreciation against the U.S. dollar, but it nonetheless country was the major market reporting the highest percentage growth worldwide last year.

Gross Israeli polished diamonds exports to Japan in 2016 equaled $61.0 million in 2016, which was 37.9 percent higher than the amount registered the year before, according to data supplied by Israel’s Diamond Controller at the Ministry of Economy.

There are few Israeli-based diamond companies that have invested as heavily in the Japanese diamond market as MID House of Diamonds. In 2015, so that it could service and supply its Japanese client base in the most effective way possible, MID opened a permanent office in Tokyo, which is located in the Okachimachi CY Building in Ueno, the city’s gemstone district.

MID House of Diamonds is also a regular exhibitor at International Jewellery Tokyo (IJT), the country’s largest and most import jewelry trade fair which in 2018 year will be held for the 29th time at the Tokyo Big Site exhibition ground. The company expansive stand, which will be stocked with a massive display of both polished diamonds and jewelry selected specifically for the Japanese market, will be at Booth A11-14.
