In Focus
The MID House of Diamonds family is pleased to announce that, as of August 29, 2017, MID House of Diamonds has been certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council as being compliant with the RJC’s 2021 Code of Practices (COP).
The Responsible Jewellery Council is organization established more than a decade ago with the express purpose of advancing responsible business practices throughout the diamond, gold and platinum group metals jewelry supply chain. To further this end, it developed two internationally recognized certification standards, the RJC Code of Practices and RJC Chain of Custody Standard.
The Code of Practices, with which MID has been certified as compliant, defines responsible ethical, human rights, social and environmental standards for the gemstone and jewelry business. Building on international standards for responsible business practices, including the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, it prescribes a set of due diligence procedures that members must establish, implement and maintain in their own business, all of which can be independently audited.
The Code of Practices covers a full scope of the certified member’s operation, including human rights, community development, anti-corruption efforts along the entire chain of supply, labor rights, working conditions, health, safety and the environment, as well as accurate methods of full disclosure of all the products it sells.
In order to be certified as compliant, MID House of Diamonds first carried out a self-assessment of its conformance with the Code of Practices. It was then subject to a certification audit by an independent RJC-accredited auditor. During the process, the auditor verified that the company had put in place all due diligence systems that enable it to conform to the RJC Code of Practices.
MID House of Diamonds’ current certification will be valid for a period of three years.
“We always have been committed to an ethical and transparent diamond business, fully knowledgeable that, as people operating in a luxury industry, integrity underscores the very value of the products we sell,” said Dotan Meirov, a principal at MID House of Diamonds. “RJC certification enables us to quantify and validate that commitment. We are proud to have been recognized, and to be part of an international community of companies that operate according to the very highest of moral standards.”
